The MEDICAL  Since 1984  Until  Nowadays

The Medical Jazz  Band is made up by doctors since itstarted in  1984. They play New Orleans style music for the benefit of medical facts such as Congresses , Journays and charity events as well.  During the show  they wear the caracteristical white clothes they always wear for working. On the upper left pocket  of their  smock  there is  a red heart with the letters MJB. A mix of  an strange wind instrument ending  in a chalice  shape, and   a snake pouring its poison to be used for  remedial measures,  is the banner that represents them, being itself the Internetional Figure of Medicine.

 

              

                                               Story and Development

                                         A group of doctors met for the first time in 1984 in

U.S. They wanted to make up a traditional Jazz Band with the style of New  

Orleans, situated in Louisiana , U.S. in the west side of Missisipy river

os mouth .The Doctoros knowledge about this was very assorted; some of

them knew  a lot , some enough and others knew nothing.This also happens

to the present day members and those who join them to play their

instuments. Dr.Victor Ponisio begang with this group; he joined them and

infected  them with his enthusiastic following.

                                        Begining and Founder Members

 As we said before, Dr Victor Ponisio begun whit this group and  was

bringing together other members afterwars.The new members who

entered into the group were : Dr. Leon  Czeplowosky  in piano , Dr.

Marcelo Cereso in batery , Dr. Daniel De Antoni in tuba , Dr.

Carmelo Chiumiento in sax,Dr. Osvaldo Tirante in slide trombone,

Dr. Roberto Marcos in banjo and Dr. Victor Ponisio in trumpet.

Thereby, they started making several noises similar to music.

While playing  in unison they realized that they were in need of 

an arranger Teacher, so they told about this to Mr.Lalo Garbarini.

                                The Band and its members ( Development )

 Later Dr.Marcelo Cereso changed batery for soprano sax and

Clarinet .Dr Alberto Fontana,who was playing the large accordion, 

 entered into the group to play the battery .Therefore the band was

composed by :

Dr.Victor Ponisio ( trumpet)

Dr.Osvaldo Tirante (slide trombone)

Dr. Carmelo Chiumiento (sax)

Dr. Leon Czeplowosky ( piano)

Dr. Marcelo Cereso ( clarinet and soprano sax)

Dr.Daniel De Antoni ( tuba)

Dr. Roberto Marcos (banjo)

Dr. Albrto Fontana (battery)

                                   Later Dr.De Antoni retired because of personal

issues being replaced by the kinesiologist Jorge Bussolini who

played the bass and was afterwards replaced by the Tomography

Technic Daniel Achinelly, Later on ,Dr. Marcelo Cereso withdrew

and when pittyfully and unexpectedly Dr.Leon Czeplowosky died

,his place in piano was occupied by Dr,Dante Poggi .At this moment

the Band was composed as follows :

Dr.Victor Ponisio(trumpet)

Dr.Osvaldo Tirante (slide trombone)

Dr.Carmelo Chiumiento (sax)

Dr.Dante Poggi (piano)

Tr.Daniel Achinelly (bass)

Dr.Alberto Fontana (battery)

Dr.Roberto Marcos (banjo)

Tr.Daniel Achinelly was replaced by Dr.Carlos Gomez , until he

went back to the Band to keep on playing bass.Dr.Leopoldo Segal

joined the Band playing guitar ,Dr.Dante Poggi leaved the Band

and Augusto Miravalle, who was still studying Medicine, took his

place . Dr.Graciela Allevato (Ofthalmology) in singing,  

Dr.Ricardo Comasco (Cardiovascular Prevent and Reabilitation)

and his wife Violeta Comasco (tango dance) joined the Band .

 The Band was made up like this :

                                            Dr.Augusto Miravalle (piano)

                                            Dr.Graciela Allevato (singing)

                                            Dr.Ricardo Comasco and Violeta (tango dance)

 In 2003 Dr.Augusto Miravalle settled down in USA where he is nowadays

specializing himself in Clinic Neurology and Research of  Neurological Clinic .

That is why Dr.Luciano Busi (Pediatrician) entered the Band .

 

                 Nowadays the Medical Jazz Band is made up as follows:

Dr.Carmelo Chiumiento (tenor sax-Anaesthesiology)

Dr.Luciano Busi (piano –Pediatrician)

Dr.Alberto Fontana (batery-Pediatrician Surgery)

Tr.Daniel Achinelly (bajo-Dsiagnostic by Images)

 Dr.Roberto Marcos (banjo-Orthopaedics and Traumatology)

Dr.Graciela Allevato (singing –Ofthalmology)

Dr.Ricardo Comasco and Violeta Comasco (tango-Cardiovascular Reabilitation)

 As you can see the complexity of the Band increased ,therefore its shows,

always based on Jazz (Dixieland ) added assorted  themes and humor sketches

that make the members of the band enjoy  themselves and have fun transmiting

it to the public The Arranger Teachers were:

                                            Sr.Luis Castillo

 Along the time they were leaving the Band They all arrived to the same

conclusion :The Band had no arrangement!  Anyway the Band owes them

its order and development (which isn’t good )untill nowadays .According

to the references given by experts ,this is the only Traditional Jazz Band

allover the world created and wholy composed by doctors .It has been in

force during 21 years untill 2005 .We think this is and amazing fact

    If you ask yourself how this Band was born ,we answer

 you bak :How didn’t it die yet ?!
